At this Rosa Parks classroom Amy Heritor and Carrie McIntosh are investigating the topic of water.  Introducing the kids to vocabulary and concepts such as absorbs and dissolves.  Here they are observing the amount of water being held by different sponges!

EGG-citing Investigation at Fairview

What a fun way to Investigate EGGS in Polly Amsbaugh and Sharon Wade’s classroom at Fairview!  The kids were introduced to EGGS-quisite vocabulary such as: yoke, pores, magnifying glass, boiling, bubbles, shell and much more.
 The children were able to experience eggs boiling and to see the bubbles released, and then discuss and journal their reactions to this process.

In ​Tricia Rhodehamel and Melinda Lindenmuth's classroom they did an investigation on cooking, which included a dramatic play grocery store, a flour sensory table and pizza making.

Stephanie Miller ant Rosa Parks and her classroom team worked on an investigation of cars. In addition to working with ramps, wheels, and plastic cars, the children explored with Ms. Beth's car. They looked inside and under the hood, and drew what they saw.

MartiAnne Well's Rosa Parks classroom conducted a long investigation of Humpty Dumpty. They looked at the properties and characteristics of eggs, and also worked on building strong walls. Part of the investigation included the creation of a tool to protect their egg from breaking, as well as a green eggs cooking experiment.

Class Pet: Gecko

Allison David's classroom adopted a class pet: a leopard gecko. The children created a list of rules for how to take care of their pet, and explored physical characteristics like skin texture, skin color, and parts of its body. They explored with texture and color in their drawings of the lizard.
