Nature Kits: Explore, Discover, and Create Outdoors

Nature Kits are open-ended outdoor activity guides designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and a deep connection to the natural world. Each kit encourages children to explore their surroundings, gather natural treasures, and engage in imaginative, sensory-rich experiences that nurture problem-solving, empathy, and environmental awareness. Whether creating art from leaves, drumming with sticks, or inventing stories inspired by the earth, Nature Kits offer meaningful, hands-on ways for children to learn through play while celebrating the wonders of the world around them.

Other kits in the collection explore a variety of natural elements and phenomena, including:
Acorns, Water, Sticks, Sun & Shadows, Spiders & Webs, Rocks, Rain, Pinecones & Needles, Nuts, Seeds & Pods, Mushrooms, Berries, Mud & Dirt, Moss, Grass, Clouds, Birds, Wind, Trees & Leaves, and Fog & Condensation.

Each Nature Kit provides opportunities for discovery and delight in the everyday beauty of the outdoors—encouraging children to see the world as a place of wonder, learning, and care.

Guided Discovery Explorations

This two-part resource series invites young children to explore science and sustainability through hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences centered around natural elements and everyday materials. The Puddle guide encourages observation, sensory engagement, and scientific questioning through outdoor water play, fostering curiosity and early scientific thinking. The Fabric guide introduces children to textiles—where they come from, how they’re used, and what happens when they’re no longer needed—while promoting environmental stewardship, creativity, and fine motor skills through sustainable textile activities. Each guide is structured using a learning framework that includes Discover, Engage, Inquire, Examine, Explore, Extend, and Evaluate, supporting both independent exploration and collaborative discovery in early childhood settings.
