THE GINGERBREAD MAN
Run! Run! As fast as you can, you can’t catch me! I’m the Gingerbread Man!
After reading The Gingerbread Man, the children were able to explore the felt board story and recreate the sequence of events from the book.
Cognitive Development: Memory; Child will remember people, objects and events. Language Development: Early Reading; Child will demonstrate interest in book reading, story-telling and singing. Will start to understand the meaning of basic symbols. The children became very interested in the story, so we made our own gingerbread men cookies! |
The children took turns measuring and mixing. They said, “Me next,” while waiting for a turn.

The children work together in small groups and individually to complete their gingerbread people.

Each child has the opportunity to roll and cut out their own gingerbread man. They use processing skills and motor skills to accomplish the task.
Fine Motor Development: Child will coordinate the use of his/her hands, fingers & sight in order to touch, grasp, reach & manipulate objects in their environment.

After baking them, the children were allowed the opportunity to decorate their own gingerbread men with icing and candy. Then, the best part…Eating the gingerbread men! Yummy!
